The Government Inspector - РЕВІЗОР 16

Based on Gogol's The Government Inspector

The Government Inspector - РЕВІЗОР

Coproduction of the National Theatre and the Transcarpathian Regional Hungarian Drama Theatre, Budapest, Hungary / Berehove,, Ukraine

Director: Attila Vidnyánszky Jr.

At the 13th MITEM with English subtitles

We dress Gogol’s Revizor in a new garment, to borrow a metaphor. In truth, we bring only the setting and circumstances closer to the present day, for the characters—and the situations they create—are timeless. The mechanisms by which the individual and the society he shapes operate have remained almost unchanged since time immemorial. Hypocrisy, greed, and cunning are constant companions of human society, corrupting the harmony and order longed for by the few.

But let us not fall on our swords — let us instead have a good laugh, first and foremost at ourselves.
