Exhibitions during MITEM

Hot from the studio - An exhibition by the Department of Scenography, Rippl-Rónai Faculty of Arts, Kaposvár University

Students in the Department of Scenography are returning exhibitors at the MITEM Festival. This year, they are presenting compositions made in the Autumn semester of the 2018–2019 academic year which focus first and foremost on visual design.

We selected compositions by students in all three years of the program of studies, offering visitors to the exhibition a comprehensive overview of the work underway in the Department of Scenography. The exhibition includes abstract color and space compositions and exciting puppets by students in the first year, as well as works by students in the second and third year of their studies, including maquettes, 3D and freehand visual designs, and costume designs. The compositions by students in the second year of the program were made for performances of plays by Shakespeare (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, King Lear, and Richard III). The third-year students created works for dramas by Brecht (The Good Person of Szechwan, Mother Courage and Her Children, The Threepenny Opera). As an étude, they also did visual designs for Béla Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle.

The program in scenography at Kaposvár University offers a bachelor’s degree. Students who completed degrees in the program have been continuing their studies in master’s programs in Hungary and abroad for years.
